The warm spring weather will soon arrive and we do have a schedule for our matches (1 day) and tournaments (2 days) for the first 3 months of the 2008 season (April, May, June and part of July). 2008 will be a more exciting and fun season than 2007. We will have more new members and more matches and tournaments (a match or tournament every other week). More

USGA rules will be strictly enforced. The course local rules also apply. Therefore, there are no "gimmes" in this league. All putts must be holed! If a player does not complete a hole in accordance with the rules, an "X" is to be recorded on the scorecard for that hole. An "X" is also recorded on the scorecard as the player's total score for the 18 holes. This score will be adjusted by the computer for handicap purposes. Since it is a team oriented league, players in a team can act as coach, caddie and help each other out during the match.
There will be 2 persons playing for "score per team" in each match. Team memberships and names must be submitted to the VNGC. Each team can have more than 2 persons and is strongly encouraged to have more than 2 members to facilitate the team scheduling and match play strategizing. Teams can also be recognized by an assigned number in case that the team can't come up with a name. The committee will assist in pairing individuals into teams. Individual players can also join the league and play as substitutes. Substitutes are members who cannot commit to the full schedule or who want to play for and contribute to many different teams. Each team will have a captain selected by the team. Currently the number of teams is not limited but the VNGC will determine how many teams will be allowed in the league in the future. Team members and substitutes who are not in the line-up will be able to play in all tournaments and participate in the "skins" game but their score will not be counted toward the team score.
